The Montrose Community Trust team recently attended the Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce Champion Awards 2026 at the Apex Hotel in Dundee.
More than 200 people from our local business and charity community attended as the awards moved from Carnoustie to Dundee for the first time, highlighting the ceremony’s growth and the breadth of entries from across the region.
We were finalists in four categories:
Future Skills (individual): Our Project Officer, Kerry Smith, was named as a finalist for her amazing work delivering our Sports Employability Programme.
People Pioneer (individual): Our Operations Manager, Gemma Cruickshank, was nominated for her role in supporting the development and recognition of our MCT team and volunteers.
People Pioneer (business): We were recognised for supporting our team through employee wellness initiatives and investing in training and development.
Impact: Being a finalist in this category was an acknowledgement of the deep impact we have made on our community through our wide range of programmes.

Up against some very strong competition, we unfortunately didn’t come out on top, but being recognised as a finalist in four categories was an amazing achievement for us, and we extend a huge congratulations to all of the winners.
Awards ceremonies like these remind us of how much good work we do every day, and they are also a chance for the team to have a well-deserved celebration. While we would’ve loved to have won, it was amazing to be in a room full of some incredible businesses and charities doing vital work across Dundee and Angus.
Why is MCT a member of the Chamber of Commerce?
You might be wondering why a charity like MCT is a member of a business Chamber of Commerce. In fact, many local charities and charitable organisations are members of our local chamber. Being a member gives us access to a vast network of partners that can connect us with different opportunities and help us widen our impact at MCT.
We can also learn best practices from other organisations like ours and share our ideas with them. We really believe that being a member of the Chamber isn’t just about bringing in more business or making more money, but connecting with others, opening up opportunities and learning from our peers.
One last thing…
A final note from us – this year we’re also thrilled to be a finalist at the Courier Business Awards in the Community category. We’ll be back at the Apex Hotel for the ceremony on the 30th of October – wish us luck!
