At Montrose Community Trust, we often talk about the power of football as a gateway, but what the Gable End Project really represents is the widening of that gateway. It’s our chance to go broader in what we offer, deeper in how we deliver, and stronger in the impact we can create across the community.
A Platform for Growth
When complete, the Gable End will give us the physical capacity to do what our teams have been working towards for years: expanding the reach and depth of our programmes.
Already, we’re building out new strands of work around employability and climate action. Both are areas that connect directly to our mission of improving lives through sport and community engagement. Whether it’s helping young people gain workplace skills through our Sports Employability Programme, or using football as a tool to talk about sustainability and stewardship of our local environment, we’re pushing forward in ways that feel both relevant and rooted in our values.
But while we grow, we’re also staying true to what we do best.
Staying True to Our Core
Health, wellbeing, and football remain at the heart of Montrose Community Trust. They always will. The Gable End doesn’t replace those foundations… it strengthens them.
Through our recent community survey, one message came through loud and clear: the need to offer more for women. We’ve listened. Programmes like Midlife Matters and Pitchside Pals are in development to help us respond, providing new ways for women to engage in activity, bridge gaps in current health provision, social connection, and wellbeing in spaces that feel safe, inclusive, and welcoming.
The new facility will allow us to expand these programmes, offering dedicated spaces that better suit the needs of all participants from changing facilities to flexible, multi-use rooms.
Inclusion at the Heart
We’re also excited to confirm that the Gable End will feature a purpose-built sensory room; a calm, inclusive environment designed to support people with autism, ADHD, and other forms of neurodiversity.
This will open up new possibilities for engagement, allowing us to support children, families, and adults who might otherwise find traditional settings overwhelming. It’s another step towards ensuring that every member of our community, whatever their needs, can feel at home at Links Park.
More Than a Building
Ultimately, this project isn’t just about having more space, it’s about using that space to amplify impact.
The Gable End will allow us to welcome more people, run more sessions, and support a broader range of needs. It’s where sport, health, learning, and social connection will come together under one roof.
A true community hub built on trust, inclusion, and opportunity.
