Why did you want to work for Montrose Community Trust?
The chance to lead such an amazing organisation was too good to pass up. I wanted to put my energy into ensuring that the community was provided for, but also that the staff and volunteers of MCT are looked after too. It’s really important that we safeguard those who deeply care for Montrose and that’s the opportunity that really drew me in – the chance to transform lives, both in the community and in the office!
What is the best part of your job?
Seeing the team loving what they’re doing! Seeing people getting the most out of the work and bringing so much passion, energy and joy to everything that they do. What could be better than seeing meaningful work being done, with huge smiles on people’s faces? I often say how lucky we are to be doing this work. But, it’s equally such a privilege to see the team deliver our programmes with so much love.
Who is your favourite football player?
Where do I start? Thierry, R9, Ronaldinho, David Beckham!
I was once lucky enough to be a mascot for England in 1998, when they played a friendly against recently-crowned World Cup winners France, at Old Wembley. It was there that I certainly saw the most amazing player I’ve ever seen live…Zinedine Zidane. He was electric. Powerful, yet graceful. Skilful yet insanely physical. I was in awe! Even got to meet him before the match. So, although the list could go on and on…I’m going to choose Zizou!
(P.S. Scottish readers will be pleased to hear that England lost 2-0 that day too – just to play to the audience.)
If you could chose 3 famous people to have dinner with, who would you choose?
David Attenborough – I’m a huge nature nerd and could just listen to Sir David for hours!
Bob Mortimer – the man makes me laugh uncontrollably!
Serena Williams – I find her immensely impressive and hearing her stories would be fascinating, plus she just seems like a big character.
That’s a weird dinner party. But, maybe that suits me well.
