On Saturday 29th August 2026, the Big Walk & Talk is back and this year, it’s bigger than ever.
Inspired by Scotland making it to the World Cup, we’re giving you two choices:
🥾 The Big Yin – 11 miles
🥾 The Wee Yin – 4 miles
Whether you’re up for a proper challenge or a steady stroll with a good blether along the way, this is your chance to get involved.
This year, every single step carries even more meaning.
Because all money raised is going directly towards our Gable End Development.
And here’s what that really means.
What You’ll Be Helping to Build
The Gable End isn’t just a redevelopment project. It’s a once-in-a-generation opportunity to expand what Montrose Community Trust can offer, both now and for decades to come.
Funds raised from the Big Walk & Talk will contribute towards key spaces inside the new hub, including:
🧠 A Sensory Booth
A calm, inclusive environment designed to support people with neurodiversity, autism, ADHD, and additional sensory needs. This space will allow more families to access our programmes comfortably and confidently.
📚 A Flexible Classroom
A dedicated space for education, training and employability delivery; supporting everything from accredited learning to life skills workshops and community development sessions.
💻 A Digital Lab
Technology-enabled learning space to boost digital literacy, support employability pathways, host workshops, and help bridge the digital divide for those who need it most.
🏃♂️ A Multi-Use Activity Space
A flexible area for health programmes, wellbeing sessions, women’s initiatives like Midlife Matters, youth engagement and so much more.
These aren’t just rooms. They are platforms for opportunity.
They allow us not only to deliver our existing services better — from dementia support to mental health programmes and football development — but to branch out into new areas, respond to community need, and grow sustainably.
What Your Fundraising Could Achieve
To put it simply:
- 💙 £10,000 could fully equip the sensory booth with specialist furniture, lighting and calming resources.
- 💙 £20,000 could provide the digital infrastructure for the classroom and digital lab. We’re screens, devices and software to power learning and skills development.
- 💙 £50,000 could help complete the fit-out of the activity space, allowing us to expand health and wellbeing provision immediately upon opening.
Every pound raised gets us closer to unlocking these spaces.

Key Information
Big Walk and Talk will take place on Saturday 29th August 2025.
It is an inclusive event designed to bring people together while raising funds for a great cause. Participants can choose between two distances:
- “Big Yin” – 11 miles – begins at 10am
- “Wee Yin” – 4 miles – begins at 12pm
Along the route, there will be 5 stops, including one where participants can enjoy hot dogs. At the finish line, there will be a great atmosphere with medals for participants, bouncy castles, food stalls, and more, making it a rewarding and enjoyable day for everyone involved.
Entry costs £5, with money raised going toward The Gable End.
You will receive a detail with all of the key information including routes and start times as the event approaches.
