What a night to remember.
The very first Montrose Community Trust Awards brought together nearly 100 friends, funders, partners, volunteers and supporters under one roof: all united by a shared passion for community. From laughter and stories to well-earned applause, the evening was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when people come together for a common purpose.
A Celebration of Partnership and Progress
The event gave us something we’ve wanted for a long time…a dedicated space to celebrate everyone who plays a part in the MCT story. Whether through volunteering, partnership, funding or simply cheering us on, every individual and organisation in the room has helped us make Montrose stronger, healthier and more connected.
And for one night, we got to press pause, look around, and say: thank you.
Honouring Our Volunteers
The beating heart of Montrose Community Trust has always been its volunteers and seeing their hard work recognised was a highlight of the evening.
Our volunteers of the year – Anne Kenny, Sheila Bell, Ian Anderson and Archie Anderson – were celebrated for their tireless efforts, compassion and dedication. Each of them embodies the values that make MCT what it is: kindness, consistency and care for others.
Their recognition was met with rapturous applause – a small but heartfelt token of gratitude for the difference they make every single week.
Recognising Our Partners
Our work would not be possible without the brilliant partners who walk alongside us. Awards went to Due North Creatives, BNI Nexus, and Angus Council’s Vibrant Communities team: three organisations who continually go above and beyond to help us deliver projects that change lives.
Their collaboration has helped us build capacity, amplify impact and reach new people in ways that simply wouldn’t be possible alone.
A Special Thank You
One of the standout moments of the night was presenting a Special Recognition Award to Montrose Port Authority, acknowledging their exceptional and ongoing support for our work. The award itself was a handcrafted plaque, made by local artisan Mig n Wid: a fitting symbol of community craftsmanship and collaboration.
From direct support to shared ambition, Montrose Port Authority has been there with us at every turn, and this recognition felt particularly special. As Chris said on the night, “In football, it’s ‘No Scotland, No Party’. In Montrose, it’s ‘No Port, No Party’”
Community Spirit in Full Flow
We were also joined by members of the local community councils, who helped us celebrate the incredible achievements of Tommy Stewart, the newly crowned Citizen of the Year 2025. Tommy’s contribution to the community has been outstanding, and sharing the stage with him was a proud moment for everyone present.
A Night to Remember

Their belief in what we do allows us to keep pushing forward and celebrating the people who make Montrose what it is.
The MCT Awards were more than an event, they were a statement. A statement that community matters, that partnership works, and that when we come together, great things happen.
